AIDS Commission ( NAC ) Batam noted that there are 59 civil servants ( PNS ) , the Police , housewives and children infected with human immunodeficiency virus / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome ( HIV / AIDS ) in 2013 ." The number of civil servants and police who infected far more than housewives and children , " said Secretary of KPA Batam , Batam Pieter Pureklolong on Wednesday .He said , in fact civil servants , police , housewives and children are not susceptible to group the deadly disease ." In 2013 there are 144 cases of HIV / AIDS and 63 of which were positive for AIDS . Of these 18 had died or died an average of six per month , " he said .As for civil servants and police , on average because they also behave stray and be unfaithful to their partners ." Until the end of April there are 2,350 people who check on some of these hospitals and 144 otherwise affected by HIV / AIDS , " he said .According to Pieter , Batam in Indonesia is the sixth region of the case as well as the development of the highest HIV and AIDS epidemic after Papua , Jakarta , Bali , West Java , and East Java .In 1997-2002 , HIV cases in Batam is still relatively low . In 2003-2006 the development of HIV cases began to increase but is still concentrated in high -risk areas such as localization , nightclubs , and in injecting drug users .



Komisi Penanggulangan Aids (KPA) Kota Batam mencatat terdapat 59 pegawai negeri sipil (PNS), Polri, ibu rumah tangga dan anak-anak yang terjangkit human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) pada 2013.

"Jumlah PNS dan Polri yang terjangkit jauh lebih banyak daripada ibu rumah tangga dan anak-anak," kata Sekretaris KPA Batam, Pieter Pureklolong di Batam, Rabu.

Dia mengatakan, sebenarnya PNS, Polri, ibu rumah tangga dan anak-anak bukan golongan rentan terhadap penyakit mematikan tersebut.

"Meski awalnya bukan golongan yang rentan seperti pegawai seks komersial (PSK), pengguna narkoba, penyuka sesama jenis, pelaut, namun sejak 2007 sudah ditemukan penyakit tersebut menjangkiti PNS, Polri, ibu rumah tangga dan anak-anak," kata dia.

Pieter mengatakan penyebaran HIV/AIDS pada kaum ibu dan anak-anak yang dilahirkan rata-rata disebabkan perilaku buruk suami yang suka membeli seks dengan pekerja seks komersial.

"Pada 2013 ada 144 kasus HIV/AIDS dan 63 di antaranya positif AIDS. Dari jumlah tersebut 18 sudah meninggal dunia atau rata-rata enam meninggal per bulan," kata dia.

Sementara untuk PNS dan Polri, rata-rata karena mereka juga berperilaku menyimpang dan tidak setia pada pasangannya.

"Akibat perilaku menyimpang tersebut, sudah banyak masyarakat tidak termasuk golongan rentan telah terjangkit penyakit yang menyerang sistem kekebalan tubuh tersebut," kata Pieter.

Ia mengatakan data tersebut diperoleh dari beberapa rumah sakit di Kota Batam seperti RSUD Embung Fatimah, Rumah Sakit Budi Kemuliaan, dan beberapa puskesmas rujukan bagi penderita HIV/AIDS di Batam.

"Hingga akhir April ada 2.350 orang yang memeriksakan pada beberapa rumah sakit tersebut dan 144 dinyatakan terjangkit HIV/AIDS," kata dia.

Menurut Pieter, Batam merupakan wilayah keenam di Indonesia dengan kasus serta perkembangan epidemi HIV dan AIDS tertinggi setelah Papua, DKI Jakarta, Bali, Jawa Barat, dan Jawa Timur.

Pada 1997-2002, kasus HIV di Batam masih tergolong rendah. Pada 2003-2006 perkembangan kasus HIV mulai meningkat namun masih terkonsentrasi di wilayah berisiko tinggi seperti lokalisasi, tempat hiburan malam, dan pada para pengguna napza suntik.
