A number of Catholic women leaders in Korea welcomed Pope Benedict XVI's views on the use of condoms in certain cases even some priests have clarified that the basic attitude of the Church remains unchanged .
Teresa Kim Sun - shi , a former chairman of the Korean Catholic Women's Community , said he felt " relieved " because she thinks the Catholic Church , which is "hard " against the use of condoms , " already a bit ahead . "

However , Doctor Anne Choi An - na , a spokesman for the Korean Prolife Doctors Association , a group of opponents of abortion doctors , said he felt " relieved " by the Pope's comments .
Choi , an obstetrician , said members of his association have long encouraged people to use condoms to prevent the spread of HIV / AIDS and venereal diseases .
However , a number of Catholic women's group declined to comment on the issue .
