Wali Kota Bogor Bima Arya Sugiarto terkejut penderita HIV/AIDS di kota tersebut menempati peringkat ketiga terbanyak di Jawa Barat.

"Ternyata Kota Bogor itu jumlah penderita HIV/AIDS nya terbanyak, peringkat ketiga di Jawa Barat dan peringkat kelima di Indonesia," ujar Bima usai meninjau ruang VCT di Puskesmas Bogor Timur, Selasa (8/4).

Bima menyebutkan fakta tersebut sangat memprihatinkan sehingga perlu penanganan serius agar jumlah penderita dapat ditekan dan pencegahan dapat dilakukan.

"Angka ini mengkhawatirkan, kita harus segera melakukan koordinasi khusus dari hulu ke hilir, melakukan pembahasan lebih khusus terkait pencegahan dan mengurangi angkanya," ujar Bima.

Sementara itu, berdasarkan data KPAD sejak 2001 hingga 2013 penemuan kasus HIV/AIDS di Kota Bogor terus meningkat, tercatat sebanyak 2.015 jumlah penderita HIV/AIDS.

Dari 2.015 penderita tersebut, 80 persennya merupakan penderita usia produktif yakni dari 25 hingga 49 tahun. Demikian dilansir dari Antara.

Selain itu, dari 2.015 jumlah penderita, sebanyak 976 orang diantaranya dinyatakan positif AIDS. Dan selama kurun waktu 2001 tercatat sebanyak 79 penderita AIDS telah meninggal dunia.

Sekretaris Daerah Kota Bogor yang juga Ketua KPAD, Ade Sarip hidayat mengatakan, berbagai upaya dalam pencegahan penularan penyakit mematikan tersebut telah dilakukan, baik dari penjaringan, sosialisasi hingga pendampingan.

Menurut Ade, jumlah penderita HIV/AIDS di Kota Bogor seperti fenomena gunung es, sehingga perlu penanganan khusus dalam melakukan pencegahan, karena adanya stigma di masyarakat.

Namun, Ade tetap mengajak masyarakat Kota Bogor untuk mewaspadai penyebaran HIV/AIDS dengan melakukan pencegahan terhadap kemungkinan terinfeksi.

"Mari kita tanggulangi bahaya penyebaran dan penularan HIV/AIDS dengan terus meningkatkan pengenalan dan pengetahuan terhadap penyakit ini, baik tata cara pencegahannya, dan mari kita perlakukan para penderita HIV/AIDS dengan sebaik ? baiknya sesuai hak azasi yang mereka punyai," ujar Ade.
